Datuk Mohd Anwar Yahya, 68, a Malaysian, was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Sime Darby Plantation Berhad on 10 May 2021.
Datuk Mohd Anwar holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Economics and Accountancy from the University of Hull, United Kingdom. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Datuk Mohd Anwar began his career in Touche Ross & Co in 1978 before joining Lembaga Kemajuan Kelantan Selatan as Finance Manager in 1982. Datuk Mohd Anwar was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Permodalan Kelantan Berhad (PKB) in 1985 and left PKB in 1991 to join PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Malaysia as a Director of the Technology Group in Management Consulting Practice. He was assigned to be Services Industry Leader in 1997 in addition to his role as Partner in Corporate Finance of PwC Malaysia. In June 2015, Datuk Mohd Anwar assumed the role of Senior Director and Public Sector Leader of PwC Malaysia. He left PwC Malaysia in 2017.
Datuk Mohd Anwar currently sits on the Boards of Fraser & Neave Holdings Berhad and Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad. He also sits on the Board of Trustees of PADU Corporation and is an Executive Director of Sage 3 Sdn Bhd, a leading boutique corporate finance firm specialising in debt restructuring, M&A and specialist valuations.
